This Circle is for parents and caregivers of children who have autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent conditions and traits, who want kind guidance instead of criticism or quick fixes. It focuses on understanding how your child’s brain works, what their behaviour is really communicating, and how to navigate school, meltdowns and therapies without breaking their spirit or your own. These circles are facilitated by a neurodivergent therapist who is herself on the autism spectrum, bringing together her educational, professional and personal experience to offer both clinical expertise and lived understanding.

Topics Covered throughout our lecture Circles
Understanding Neurodivergent Brains
This session offers a clear, non‑pathologising picture of how autistic and ADHD brains experience the world, sensory overload, attention, routines, special interests and more. You’ll leave with language to explain your child to yourself, relatives and teachers in a way that is respectful and accurate, so your child feels “different, not broken.”
Siblings, Family and Social World
This session is for parents to think through what’s happening with siblings, grandparents and peers around their neurodivergent child (jealousy, over‑protection, teasing, being left out). We’ll map common patterns and focus on what you can say and do: simple ways to explain your child to siblings and relatives, set fair ground rules at home, and prepare/debrief social situations like parties, playdates or school events.
Boundaries and Burnout for Parents
Caring for a neurodivergent child can mean years of appointments, advocacy and hyper‑vigilance, and burnout is common even in the most loving parents. This session looks at how to set boundaries—with family, school and even your own expectations—without feeling like you’re abandoning your child. You’ll explore small, realistic ways to share the load, ask for support and make space for rest, so you can keep showing up.
Behaviour vs Misbehaviour
Here we ask: is my child being difficult, or having a difficult time? We look at how overwhelm, lagging skills and sensory issues can look like “defiance,” and how to tell the difference between “won’t” and “can’t (yet).” You’ll get a simple way to rethink consequences and support, so you can set limits without shaming your child.
Meltdowns and Shutdowns
Meltdowns and shutdowns are not tantrums or “attention‑seeking”—they are signs of a nervous system in overload. In this session we unpack triggers, early warning signs and what actually helps before, during and after an episode, as well as what usually makes things worse even if it “looks” firm. You’ll build a calmer, more confident step‑by‑step plan for supporting your child (and yourself) in these intense moments .
When Therapy Helps
With so many therapies and professionals in the picture, it can be hard to know what is truly helpful. All our lectures will also walk you through different options (OT, speech, behaviour programs, counselling and more), what each is actually for, and how to spot red flags versus neurodivergence‑affirming practice. You’ll leave clearer on when to say yes, when to pause, and how to work with therapists as partners instead of feeling at their mercy.
